What tawhid actually claims
Monotheism is the easy part. The harder claim inside tawhid is about what may be directed toward God alone — and that is where most disagreement sits.
Beyond counting
Saying God is one is a claim about number. Tawhid is more than that: it is a claim about what kind of act may be directed at God and at nothing else.
Where the disagreements are
Schools within Islam agree on the first part almost entirely. Their disagreements concentrate on the second — intercession, sainthood, the status of the divine attributes — and those are genuine disagreements, not misunderstandings.
